Thursday evenings in the woods. A fire crackling, a kettle on, a pudding warming over the flames.
Bring your dinner to cook on the fire, gather round with friends, whittle or build something if your hands feel like it… and stay for pudding.
A proper community, immersed in nature. Every week.
Why an evening in the woods
Because some things are simpler than they sound. A fire to sit by. Something to make with your hands. Fresh air, and a couple of hours that aren't on a screen. The same people, week after week, until they aren't strangers any more.
It's the same patch of woodland every week, too. You start to know it — which trees, where the light falls, how it shifts through the year. That slow, growing connection to one piece of nature is the quiet heart of Forest School, and it works on grown-ups just as well as children.
Forest school has always been about learning by doing, at your own pace, outdoors. There's no agenda and nothing to achieve here. Just somewhere good to be on a Thursday.

Common questions
What if it rains?
We run in (almost) all weather. We've got tarps up and a proper fire. Cancellation only for genuinely dangerous conditions — we'll always let you know in good time.
I've never done anything like this. Will I feel out of place?
No. Most people arrive on their first night not quite sure what to expect, and leave already planning to come back. Newcomers welcome every week.
Do I need any experience with tools or fire?
None at all. Everything's taught one-to-one as you go, at your own pace.
Can I come on my own?
Yes — most people do. That's rather the point.
Do I have to cook on the fire?
Not at all. Some people love it, others bring something ready to eat. Whatever works for you.
What about food allergies?
Let us know in advance and we'll make sure the pudding works for you.
Where exactly is it?
Private woodland near Saffron Walden. We share the exact location and parking details with everyone who books.
