Twiglets
A parent and child Forest School group for children up to approximately 5 years.
The Forest School ethos is about child-led learning in a supportive and outdoors environment. We promote connection with nature and a holistic approach to child learning and development — we look forward to sharing our woodlands with you and your children!
When & where
Twiglets runs on Friday mornings, 9.45am–11.45am, at our woodland site near All Saints Church, Ashdon.
About the sessions
Forest School is a child-centred inspirational learning process, that offers opportunities for holistic growth through regular sessions. Our sessions are child-led and therefore our leaders will give you the space to access the sessions in the way that suits you, but there is always someone available for support should you need it.
It is a long-term program that supports play, exploration and supported risk taking. It develops confidence and self-esteem through learner inspired, hands-on experiences in a natural setting. Our sessions follow the Forest School Association’s 6 principles which you can read more about here.
There is sibling discount available.
What you need to know
- We meet at the gate to All Saints Church at 9:45am and take the short walk to the woods together.
- Please bring a water bottle, as we don’t have running water on site and only carry a limited supply with us.
- In the event of unsafe weather (we can’t run Forest School sessions when there are high winds or lightning storms) or other unavoidable cancellation, you’ll be notified by email and we’ll post on our Facebook page — please check for updates before attending.
What to wear
- Wellies — great for stream splashers.
- Long trousers and long sleeves, even in warm weather — the woods are shady and clothing protects against nettles and bugs (Spring/Summer).
- Waterproof clothing and warm layers in Autumn/Winter (thick socks, gloves, scarves and hats; thermals are recommended if the temperature is expected to be below 9°C).
- A change of clothes (we carry some spares too if needed).
For further clothing advice please visit our what to wear at forest school page.

Cancellation policy
Unfortunately refunds/transfers for block-booked sessions or special events sessions (e.g. Christmas/Easter, Adults sessions) can only be provided if the space can be filled. Should we have to cancel a session for any reason we will make all reasonable attempts to contact you, and the cost of the session will be rolled over to the next block booking.
For individual sessions 48 hours’ notice is required for cancellations in order to receive a refund of the amount paid. Should a cancellation be made with less than 48 hours’ notice the place may be transferred at the discretion of the Forest School leader. If less than 24 hours’ notice is given unfortunately no refund or transfer can be offered.
